Day 24

The ball is finally rolling!

Our visit to the hospital this morning was so successful! The cherry on top was leaving the community health workers meeting with a list of traditional birth attendants, just as we were hoping for. That list contained 43 names! I am SO happy!
The meetings at the hospital are always held in the chapel.
Over the course of time I was there, I was asked multiple times if I was okay today. The conversations went a little like this:

Danish nurse: "Amanda, are you okay? You look very tired."

Ten minutes later...

Dr. Bakari: "Amanda, are you feeling okay today?"

Five minutes later...

Dr. Bakari: "Are you homesick? Do you miss home?"

Ten minutes later...

Dr. Bakari: "You are missing someone. There is boy you miss. You should talk to him."

It's never a compliment when someone tells you that you look tired. It's just a nicer way of saying you look absolutely terrible today. According to Dr. Bakari though, when you don't look well you must be missing a boy.

To whomever I'm missing, we should chat!

XOXO,
Amanda
